The American version of The Fat Man starring J. Scott Smart provided humor and good stories.  The show was about a gruff private detective, Brad Runyon, solving murders.  Unfortunately, there are only 10 surviving broadcasts available.  There is an Australian version that, in my opinion, just isn't as compelling.  The show was based on Dashiell Hammett's character and aired from 1946 to 1951 on the A.B.C. radio network.
   The Fat Man
The beginning of the program had Runyon entering a drug store, weighing himself, and getting his fortune.
